Christian Siriano's book is one part style manual, one part bio, and one part self-esteem guide. Christian gives practical yet sassy tips on how to get your fierceness quotient up. It's compact, colorful, and has a healthy does of humor. Definitely the perfect book for the up-and-coming or the self-proclaimed diva.

Although the book is for the most part obviously ghostwritten, and liberally studded with idiotic trademark phrases that I'm sure are a lot more charming in person, there is plenty of real Christian in here. He lists Subway and T.G.I. Friday among his favorite places to eat, advises all women to wear heels all the time, and still has a place in his heart for Saved by the Bell. What do you think - was this tiny, marvelous, gay suburban Maryland kid a Screech or a Zack?

The first 75 pages or so I liked, then the book devolved into ramblings that seemed disjointed at best. Disappointing to be sure.

I received this book as a gift when I was 16 because Christian Siriano is my favorite designer ever, and I wasn't disappointed while reading this! I would have liked to see more pictures, and yes, his "catchphrases" do get annoying, but I really like Christian as a person, and he makes me laugh, so I could get past the phrases (mostly because I can picture him saying these things). He wrote this when he was very young so there isn't a ton of great advice on how to dress, but I think he does a great job with telling you how to be confident, and how to change up your wardrobe even if you don't have a lot of money. He also gives tips on how to achieve your signature look, which I thought was great. There are parts in this book where he does say/tell you things more than once, but you can just skim over those parts. I also enjoyed reading about his early life and how he got into design. There was a part on his sister who is his biggest muse, too, and I thought that was adorable! You can see how appreciative Siriano is of everything he has experienced in his life, and if you want a quick read or a "handbook" that deals with fashion, pick this up!

For a gay man I was seriously disappointed with his hyper focus on the binary. Ugh I couldn't handle all the sexist crap he kept throwing out in his language, how many real women does this man actually know or did he write his book based off of teen magazines? Seriously though i felt that the writing was infantile and boring, with very little to no photos which is odd because he is a designer. Also what about binary people and women who are not wanting to appear feminine all the time, he completely ignored queer women and only focused on straight heteronormative teenage minded women. Boring.
