This book was average for me. The way that the boys were so obsessed with the Lisbon girls was a bit troubling, especially because the girls were clearly screaming out for help but they were so “in love” with them that they were oblivious to it. They say they were in love with the girls but so many times they say that they couldn’t even tell them apart.

It’s a very tragic story with very long chapters, making it harder to get through.

The five Lisbon girls are the treasures of their town. They fascinate young boys and their tale survives even after they killed themselves. I have no idea what I just read or what the conclusion of the book is. It is a strange and mysterious story filled with trauma.

Great read, really wishing we could have seen the sisters view/ from the inside of the house
they only had each other especially after Cecilia died; the boys were obsessed with the idea of them treating all the sisters like as one shiny, interesting object never really understanding what they were going through or their cry’s for help, I think in the end the girls knew that which is why they invited the boy over for their last night. The parents where no better keeping them isolated from the world.

this book is good but in a disturbing way. i hated the way it felt like the Lisbon sisters were zoo animals in a tank and i was observing them from the perspective of the neighborhood boys who only saw them as creatures to be viewed and possessed. i also think it was an intentional device used by the author. would love to read an analysis of the whole thing to further unpack
