This has been by far my favorite book in the series so far. The pacing was great, the plot twists were ones I didn't see coming, the characters and their relationships evolved in beautiful ways, and i always say that a book that can make me sob is a book that is absolutely phenomenal. Those emotions are so powerful and you never forget something that hurts to the point of tears. The character death in this book had me crying so hard; it touched me deeply and I felt as if I too had lost a loved one that would forever be irreplaceable. L.J Smith wrote a real gem when she wrote this book and I will forever be disappointed that this book was the final book she wrote for the series. But I'm going to keep going because I've come too far to turn back now. I can only hope that the books written by the ghost writer can live up to the high standards Smith set when she started this series.
medium-paced
So, Elena continues to piss me off...and Bonnie.
This one, though, was better than the previous book. For those not fans of the horror genre some of the details may have been a bit much, but it very much helped keep me interested.
I also think some parts were a tad ridiculous and too convenient still, but a little less so than before. The very very end also did not surprise me, and I’m wondering how this will continue.

2.5 stars.
This really could have been shorter. This, like the others, wasn't a bad book. I just think it has lost the essence of the original books.

This one...was REALLY great. I just won't buy anymore of the series now. I liked it better when she wrote her series. Sadly this was the last one she wrote herself.
adventurous
emotional
mysterious
tense
medium-paced
Maybe i am just done with this series or maybe I should of reread the other to refresh my memories, but this book wasn't as good as I thought it could have been. However it was enjoyable. I really liked how we finally get to many truths in this book. We find out about Elena's parents, about Meredith's secrets and about relationships.
I thought that the book ?would have? been a good ending to the series. I usually write in my reviews that books don't have enough closure, but I think that this one did even though it kinda leaves you in a cliff hanger. I think that th ending kinda fit the series. I don't think that there needed to be another 3 books but LJ or another. Even though I like the end being left to my imagination I will probably read the other 3 and see where all the revolutions go from here.

Alright so my mind is still spinning. I could not except that Damon was dead and I hope that last page was proof that he is alive!!! I hope so!!
But, I loved this story and how everything was happening and that they all three finally understand each other. Damon. Stefan. Oh boy.
I didn't see obassan coming as the boss of the kitsune. Holy cow I need the next book.
I only now realize, as Stefan did, it isn't "Stefan" or "Damon" but both because they all loved each other so much that she shouldn't have to choose.

I think that, the series would have been it's best if she had stopped writing after the original four.
It's so ridiculous, some of the stuff. So many loose ends. So many things that DIDN'T need to be included in the first place.
Especially, (to point out a few) Meredith's brother. Meredith /all together/. So what if she's a hunter-slayer! That adds nothing to be book except make the reader disbelieving. Her brother, well. Geez. Don't get me started. Well--WHERE IS HE? They brought him up, made this thing about him; and then didn't do anything else. Meredith and her brother were seperated by Klaus. Meredith has kitten-fangs. Her brother is off somewhere. He's a full vampire.
Are you kidding me.
And the epilogue-type chapter at the end. I was glad Damon was dead, it added a more believe-able quality to the book. I would have HATED it if they all went home happily. Maybe that's just me, but it would have given it a more realistic quality. Okay kids, let's all go to the Dark Dimension again! Don't even worry about dieing, you WON'T. But no, Damon has to come back to life. Are they writing another book? I don't think so. Please, no. I really really really wish this book wasn't written. Please give me the original, and only the originals.
To continue my rant, I didn't like any of the characters in this book. Bonnie was annoying. Meredith was over the top. Elena, well, Elena. *sigh* No dear, it's not really possible to love two people at once. You may think so, but no. That just got unbelieveable. Choose ONE. Yes, that was the original point. Star-crossed lovers. How can I say this though? No.
