I liked this book a lot better than the last 2 in the series (which fell flat to me). The writing felt better. Surprisingly, I was able to guess pretty early on who did it, though the motive was off. Overall, this was a fun, light read.

Extremely fun and easy read but also the least complex and satisfying of the Tita Rosie’s Kitchen Mystery series so far. There was a lot of references to characters that we have met throughout the series, so it was nice to catch up with them. There was very little actual character development which I think could definitely have been interesting since the story focused so much of the Calendar Crew. The ending is rushed. All in all, I would definitely read this book again but it probably could have used another 6 months of writing and revision

My favorite in the series so far! Loved to see Lila's friends and family come together to solve this one.

Absolutely love this series.
It always makes me want to eat.
I could listen to these books forever.

I heard the author is coming out with a YA book and I'm not super excited about that... I probably won't read it but I hope she writes more adult cozy mysteries!

Love this series! Love how the characters continue to grow: especially Lila. This is always a great series for a quick and easy read (that makes me hungry!)

I always have a good time with these Cozy Mysteries. Diverse cast, tasty sounding food and recipes in the back. A fun time!

This is the only cozy fantasy series so far that I'm keeping up with and thoroughly enjoying.

However, this installment was a mixed bag for me.

To start on the positive, this was a fairly fast paced read that was entertaining and full of amazing sounding foods.  I liked seeing familiar characters and watching Lila's friendgroup become stronger. I love the Filipino rep, and coming back to Shady Palms.

This book definitely had some weak moments unfortunately. For one, I am BEYOND TIRED of hearing how hot Jae is. I don't like the man to be quite honest, and I'm not even really sure why. Maybe because he's been shoved so relentlessly in our faces ever since him and Lila started dating. Another issue I had with this book was the pacing. It just felt off. We spent a huge chunk of the book just hearing about all the different foods and recipes being prepared and we gloss over some key events that lead to solving the mystery; there was a lot of talking vs actually showing.

I also couldn't really root for the titas unfortunately. I love them, they're my main gals, but in this book they were such hypocrites that it set my teeth on edge. They ruined livelihoods with their gossip, and yet felt offended when people were rightfully telling them to mind their business. I don't agree that they should have been subjected to vandalism, but sometimes it's best to cut the gossip.

I also felt we didn't get to know much about Divina. She was painted in this negative light where she was portrayed as this entitled man stealer, so it kind of felt difficult to really feel bad about her murder.

I was hoping for some more character development as well but they all pretty much stayed stagnant. And Lila was reading more like a teenager than an adult which threw me off.

I did like the food descriptions and the little nods to the previous books. I love the main cast of characters for the most part and like I mentioned earlier, this was fast and pretty entertaining read.
