Really what's there to say. A total Dan Brown book: short chapters all ending with mini cliffhangers, totally geeky plot with symbols, history, and hidden meanings. So it hooked me early and made the 600-ish pages fly by. Great summer/poolside read
The book felt a too much like reading a lecture or an encyclopedia article rather than developing a plot line. It's just not believable that one person could know that much! Still it intrigued me enough to want to revisit Washington D.C. and check out all of the symbolism.
I enjoyed the first 200 or so pages, it was quite a page turner. However, I grew increasingly exasperated with the plot lines and the constant teaching or preaching. The CIA character was irritating as was the ending, which was somewhat predictable. It goes on for 40 pages of enlightenment after the suspense has wrapped up-just end the book, Dan!!! Sometimes you have to stop and rest because the suspense is too much, that was the first half of this book. But I found myself doing it during the second half out of exhaustion with the sheer inanity and implausibility of the plot.
I'd probably give this 2.5 stars. It was entertaining and thrilling but a little much and some of it was beyond believable (obviously but I wasn't in a state where I could suspend disbelief).
“Knowledge grows exponentially. The more we know, the greater our ability to learn, and the faster we expand our knowledge base.”
I personally consider Dan Brown a genius without a doubt and I'll always declare myself a huge fan of his work. I won't die until I read/buy all his books for sure! <3 The last pages kept me on the edge of my seat like always.
A fool and her money were definitely parted on this one. This is a book about people remembering lectures, with the world's slowest car chase breaking it up.
