The biggest ever 'thank you' to NetGalley and Macmillan-Tor/Forge for the digital ARC of The Book Eaters by Sunyi Dean.

I cannot fully express how much I loved this book. The Book Eaters has been on my list of 'books I need' ever since I read a description about a secret group of people that feed on books, and retain the knowledge, and there is an more sinister group out there that feeds on human minds.

I was excited to see how this author described this new way of consuming knowledge, and I absolutely fell in love with Devon, and Cai throughout this book. When I got to the last page all I could think was that I didn't want their story to end... they have created the perfect little family, with the exception of the one that is still missing.

I think I've already told every person I possibly could that they need to pre-order and read this book. I am so impatient to have my own copy of this book to love and re-read. 5/5

This has to be one of the most unique and coolest premises of a book that I have read about in a hot minute. It was atmospheric and I can see the Gothic influence in this. Devon was an interesting character to read about. Learning about Book Eaters, Mind Eaters, and this world was fascinating. Despite it being only 300 pages, reading it physically was kind of hard because the font was kind of small. I read the last 40ish% on my Kindle and I flew through it. I will say that the back and forth timelines would be confusing at times. Overall, I thought this was good and I would recommend this to others if you like weird things. This seems to be underrated.

I feel like this is what Book of Night by Holly Black should have been.

Like this is a fully realized world, with clear adult themes, that knows what it is and isn't just trying to NOT BE YA BUT WITH ADULTS. Thank you for having an ORIGINAL idea and doing Vampires a great imaginative service!

Everything just felt right in this fantasy world, the story was easy to understand, I very much enjoyed it.
The timeline jumping was a bit much for me cause I was just so invested in the present storyline hahaha

I can see this being a limited series on TV or movie. Very fun read, not too complicated.
