Wow! Read this book for a course I’m taking and I’m glad it was on the syllabus. Dangaremba is a powerful story teller who writes with intent and conviction. Her prose is wonderfully written, but even more importantly, her ability to develop plot and deep connection with characters in a short span of pages is incredible. Hopefully, I’ll read the other two novels in this trilogy soon

I really enjoyed this read and I'm excited to see where the author takes Tambudzai in the next two books. It gives the reader a view into African life and the struggle with education. It focuses on the women in the family and their struggles with the consequences of imperialism and white supremacy. I had never read such a book before and would thus like to dive deeper into this trilogy as it fascinated me.
