I think for some people who didn't like this book, it's because they were expecting the next revolutionary Magic Spell to fix their hateful lives. We seem to be obsessed with finding our Grand Purpose and rushing through the frantic race towards who knows what that Americans feel obligated to take part in.
It turns out that comfort objects and foods and people, and enjoying them on purpose, are what make people happy. And now we have scientific evidence to back this up.
Americans seem to have responded to this information with the Great Pinterest Hygge Olympics and the inevitable Capitalistic Appropriation of something good that became popular, meaning they have completely missed the point and I am almost certain Denmark is laughing at us.
Now excuse me while I go enjoy my tea and sweaters and family and stop feeling guilty for it because science says I can. :)

I really enjoyed learning about Hygge and the ways we non-Danish people can implement this mindset into our daily lives to try to be happier. It’s basically about being present and enjoying the small joys in life, and I love that.
Wasn't mine and i had to give it back.

A charming book as it described the culture of Denmark in a positive light. Could've been written to make one want to travel there - very enticing. A lot of repetition and not that tightly written, would've like to hear a more balanced view ... maybe some un-Hygge things about Danish life, if only just to be appear to be more objective.
Lovely book, feels like a hug. Loved the pictures and the design style of the illustrations and graphics.
The concept of Hygge makes me want to move to Denmark, I feel like I would adapt really well there (except for the weather).
I will try to implement some the ideas and some of the recipes.
