I adore this mini story so much.
I’m a huge fan of the original trilogy, and genuinely wished Sarah had used this mini story for a second series to it.

There are a few inconsistencies with the books. (For example: the way had a small plot hole of having a different location of where it dropped them off. I’d usually say that it was because it was a different way, but in book 3 rook ended up near Fer’s farmlands through the same way. So seeing as it’s the Lake of all ways, I assume it was because it was opened to a different human way. And then it also forgot to mention that pucks have a minimum of two shifters, and only sometimes got the third of a goat. Besides that, that’s it)

I also love how they have a new adopted baby. Which only works so well due to already established lore. NEVER would I have thought I’d be kicking my feet over an unexpected baby trope.
Maybe in canon, they’d one day have bio babies of their own. I love that thought. And would definitely read a book or two on Rook and Fer just being parent’s with cool stories.

A wonderful addition to the Winterling trilogy. My heart melts each time I read it.

The story was clever, and I liked the characters, especially Rook, but a few things seemed a bit unfinished. For example--how did Fer get back to the opening out of the way when she was being chased? It doesn't say that she flew as she did when she was leaving the Way opening, so how did she get back?

Other than small inconsistencies like that, this book was good and I enjoyed it.
