GET THE AUDIO VERSION! Lucy Gaskell & Morven Christie put on a WONDERFUL, captivating performance of the strong female characters in the book.

The book itself is bloody brilliant (I'm using a English/Scottish accent now as I write this). I read many reviews about how the pilot jargon bogged people down, but to me it was just apart of the story, you don't really NEED to know the parts of a plane.

More than anything this book is about love, friendship, and sacrifice. It's funny and smart, but also painful. I want to re-read it again right now, but I'm still processing.

"KISS ME, HARDY! kiss me, QUICK!"

this book is so painful in all the best ways. it's so smart and snappy and wonderful and heartwrenching, oh my god, after reading this i am gonna need to lie down and sob for the next 10 years before i will be ok. every single word of this masterpiece just dESTROYED ME but i love it so much & it's SO good. it's one of those books that you can't simply just read once. it's one of those books that always comes back & never fails to be amazing. oh god, i am crying & i think i will always be crying.

but a part of me lies buried in lace and roses on a riverbank in france--a part of me is broken off forever. a part of me will always be unflyable, stuck in the climb.

yes. I upped my rating on second read.

Yup. Still fantastic (and tear-inducing). I feel like I should up this to a 5 because I only re-read books I love dearly. But I'm going to stick with my first reaction.

I really enjoyed this book - it's not on the literary side, but the characters are really believable, and it's "historical fiction" done right.

This is a masterful piece of fiction (although I can hardly believe it's actually fiction). Take a deep breath and savor this book. I'm stunned.

I accidentally read the second of this series before the first thinking they were stand alone, and I adored that one. This book? Broke my heart into a million pieces and then some. So important as a book with a friendship being the centric part of it, and that friendship considered as important, if not more important, than any kind of romance. This one will stay with me for a long time.
