Book one of the Stormlight Archive was A LOT of info dumping, character history and background, and of course has the infamous “Sanderlanche” in the last few hundred pages.

I thoroughly enjoyed this and am looking forward to following these characters throughout the rest of the series.

Sanderson is honestly a masterclass in fantasy storytelling and writing. I can’t wait to continue making my way through the Cosmere and see how the stories all collide.

Wow. Brandon Sanderson never ceases to amaze me with how well he wraps up plot holes but also…doesn’t? Many times did I shed tears and look at my husband (who is caught up on the cosmere) with a gaping mouth, in shock at what I’d just read.

This was my second time reading it and I picked up SO much more than I did before. Immediately I want to start the next one.

A really interesting premise but it was just too many books in one to keep my attention.

Bouncing between two stories, interesting in their own way but that hadn’t yet come together just distracted me from both of them.

I either wanted to stay with Kaladin and his story although the slavery I could have done without. Or with Szeth because his magic was cool af and the assassin stuff was very well written and dynamic. I wasn’t into Shallan’s story line so much at first because it moved so slowly but I also wanted to see her steal that soul-caster thing and if she could get her family out of trouble.

All that to say, there’s a bunch of stuff in this mammoth of a book to keep you interested if you like war, magic, thievery, etc. but my goodness, 1200 pages is just too much. Couldn’t hang. I’d watch the movie though if that ever happens.

The world that was created in this book was so emersive and just so well executed. The characters felt complex and I really grew to love them. I cannot wait to continue with this series.
