"And what does 'exacerbate' mean anyway?"

It beganing very personal, but toward the end it wasn't really personal and seemed rushed

I finished this book this morning and am now watching Spaced, again, with newfound appreciation. This is a great read and a charming, relatable memoir. I love it!

Simon Pegg is an excellent storyteller: funny, engaging and very good at finding the perfect turn of phrase.

His life story from young to adult nerd (who gets to make a living from said nerd quality) is fascinating in that, in and of itself, it's not out of the ordinary. Like many of us, he fell in love with popular culture at a young age. What is interesting to see is how, through various actions of fate and personal choices on his part and on the part of others, he managed to slowly but surely make his way in this world he's always loved so much.

There is a genuine love for culture in this book and that is what resonates the most with me. I also very much enjoyed his musings on fate, on how much of our future depends on choices we make without knowing their outcome, on the people we meet and don't meet and how we are somehow drawn to people who share our idiosyncrasies. It's a very interesting outlook on life.

I'd like to give this 3.5. It was good, no Hollywood dirt or gossip which was great and the story between biography chapters were fantastic. If you like Simon Pegg I don't think you'll be disappointed if you read this.

Both Surprised and Expected More

I love Simon Pegg! And I enjoyed reading his book. But it just didn’t wow or entertain me as much as I expected it to. At first, I was thinking that maybe it was because of the UK/American humor differences, but I guess it was because I have read Seth Rogan’s book first and was anticipating something similar: laugh-out-loud funny and full of antics. The first thing that surprised me was Pegg’s advanced vocabulary and writing style. They actually made it hard to read the book initially. I found the stories Pegg told (the fictionalized and the autobiographical) to be interesting, but not overly compelling. In the end, I’m happy to have finished it, but I wasn’t sure I would for most of the book.

I love Simon Pegg and his movies. So, the book was really a 3 star. The additional star comes from being such a likeable guy.

as amusing as his characters and movies.

Very enjoyable as an audiobook. Made my heart melt for Pegg all over again.

I have this in both book and audiobook form, I've still to read the book form but I listened to the audiobook while commuting to work this week.
It's a great listen. Pegg has a fantastic personality that comes through in his narration. This isn't a simple autobiography but also includes a few chapters of fiction that Pegg sort of introduces at the beginning.

Now that I've listened to, and loved, the audiobook I'll definitely be reading my proper book of it.
