Ooooh this was very fun and much different than I expected. I think the phrase from "The Haunting of Bly Manor" gets at the heart of the relationship in this book--that people often confuse love with possession. Because Nirrim is caught in a web of people who have at best muddled the two and are intent on continuing muddling them. And I liked that she still struggled with that, even after she gets clear of the emotionally abusive relationships she was tangled within. And I liked that it was heartbreaking for her to do that, and it was heartbreaking for her to be with Sid. I'm excited to see where it goes in the next book (I'll admit I felt the pacing was off before I learned that it was part of a series).
Moderate: Toxic relationship
