This volume of Heaven’s Official Blessing was the most pensive and sad one to me since the backstory focused on Xie Lian. The other sad events that happened to the martial gods who evidently created Black Water were sad in understandable and karma fulfilling way but Xie Lian’s was truly devastating to read. He wanted to save everyone and in the end, was abandoned and could save no one. Had it not been for two singular souls, one dead and one alive, who knows what path he would have taken. Xie Lian’s comeback and revival of a calm spirit was truly a remarkable testament to his character.
