Odličan početak sage i jedna od boljih fantazija napisana u zadnjih nekoliko godina

The Witcher is like Shrek-adjacent. The show is… kind of awful, and it's so nice to read the stories and see the original inspiration that wasn't in The Wild Hunt. The show deprives its audiences of all the humour and wit of the books - Geralt is funny, he talks a lot - he talks to himself and his horse. He isn't always sour and angry. He's tender for Yen and they have a very singular relationship.

What to even say. I hate reviewing books. AAAAHHHH

It's fun. I liked that it was dark and gritty, I'd say it perfectly presented what living in the middle ages must've been like. Minus the ghouls, of course. I was also pleasantly surprised with how complex certain characters were. The book never tried painting anyone as pure evil or good, most were differing shades of gray, and I loved it! Depth! Something different!

There are some low brow moments, but if you can look past those I think you'll have as good as a time as I did.

It was certainly fun to recognize scenes from the show and how they interpreted it. The Law of Surprise chapter in particular was a lot of fun. However, be forewarned that this book — as is common in a lot of grimdark adult fantasy — contains a lot of misogyny & violence against women (usually not on-page, but retold by men as either a joke or a way to explain the monster haunting their town). And because of that, I didn’t enjoy the book as much as I’d hoped.
