The Silver Kiss was one of the first few books outside of Harry Potter novels that started to push me towards enjoying reading. It isn't your typical vampire story when it comes to how they are nowadays. If I had to explain to someone now, it be how Twilight should have been. Simon and Zoë are these amazing characters that I've seen so few in other books that I love. I became attached to both of them and it is hard to put into words of how they are without feeling like I'll give something away. I believe if you like vampire books with a dash of romance this is your way to go. Be prepared for some heartstrings being pulled is all the warning I can give. What I can tell you is that I've read this one to the point I'm in desperate need of a new one.

Vampires are just so sad and tragic. This was a little too emo for me.

I absolutely hated this book, it was awful. I hated the love between the characters and the lack of growth from anyone at all in this book. Simon is a creep who likes peeing on doors and Zoe is a selfish brat who wants everything to be about everyone feeling sad for her because her mom is dying and her dad is never home because he is with his dying wife. Like, Zoe, why aren’t you there? Shouldn’t you want to spend time with your mom before you lose her? No, you wanna hang out with a weird vampire? Also, the ending, oh my god, I have never in my life been more let down, destroyed and irate over a book ending in my life. I read this book in middle school and I still think about it and tell everyone I meet you likes reading to avoid this book because of that ending. Horrible, awful, terrible book.

Sad story. I've read about three books by Annette Curtis Klause and I find her writing amazing, but this book was a bit too quick in the love aspect of it. But the ending was bad but lovely, if you read the book you will understand. Also thank good the book included the short stories The Summer of Love at the beginning and The Christmas Cat at the end. Those were a nice touch to the story.

I wasn't very impressed with this book. It seemed as if the beginning was too long and the ending too short. The main character was too trusting of the vampire and never seemed to take enough stock in her own life. The author seemed to steal ideas from other vampire works... the water thing from Dracula, the idea of a child vampire from Anne Rice, etc. and nothing was very new or interesting in this book. The parents were sort of non-characters and the ending was, as I said, a complete let down and way too quick and easy.
