This was super cute! I loved the ending! That was adorable!
The fmc is going to have you banging your head on your desk, wondering how the mmc is ever going to fall for her…. And then probably 50-60% in, you get it. Trust me. Grumpy-Sunshine is the usual trope but to be honest this story read more grump v grump… and I loved it.
Brynn returns home after her fumble on air to show the world she didn’t mean what she said. Because if her hometown can forgive her then why can’t everyone who watches the show? Sebastian sees right through her act of making nice though. Brynn works so hard to win Sebastian over once she figures out he was the one who was still didn’t believe she was sorry for what she said (she wasn’t, she was sorry she got caught.) In the end, he just wanted to meet the real Brynn that everyone else in town was seeing bloom again. Brynn turned out to be kind of great. I was smiling so big by the end. I felt like we got to meet Brynn with Sebastian as the story progressed. Brynn was able to work through her grumpiness and find the root cause of her unhappiness. (Vague, I know, but spoilers.) While doing so, she also helped Sebastian work through his PTSD and anxiety, as well. He was able to rediscover his passion and drive in journaling.
Overall, this was a very cute story. Even if Brynn made me want to pull my hair out at first. If you’re looking for a light hearted, easy read, definitely check out Brynn and Sebastian Hate Each Other!

The story was light and fun, but I absolutely hated the main character. I think she was supposed to be relatable. Or, maybe the author wants people to hate “city” women.

Brynn Cornell is America's Ray of Sunshine on the most-watched morning show. She's always happy, perky, and looking at the bright side of things. Until a series of errors while filming live ends up showing the world that she hates the little town she grew up in and thinks very negative things about the people living there. In an effort to save her career, Brynn is forced to go back to a town she'd sworn never to set foot in again and win the forgiveness of those she abandoned and then badmouthed on national television. A hard task on its own, but there's also Sebastian Sudworth to deal with. A recent-ish transplant who loves the little town and all the people in it and won't let Brynn get away with saying bad things about the town and then showing up being fake about her feelings.
They clash from the moment they're in the same space together and things only get better from there. It's a story about redemption and going back to your roots in order to find your future path. The emotions are strong with this one, but Turner manages to write even the darkest parts of the story so that they're always cushioned by want and fuzzy moments that tug at your heartstrings without it hurting.
I loved this book so much. The snipping and banter between Brynn and Sebastian are perfect from beginning to end. It reminded me of little kids with crushes who don't want to acknowledge that they like the other person and keep finding reasons to antagonize them. It adds a very fun element to a story that would otherwise be weighed down by their sad pasts. I very highly recommend giving this one a read and enjoying the fun ride it takes you on.
Delighted thanks to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson for the great read!

Well, that was charming?!
Brynn And Sebastian Hate Each Other by Bethany Turner is a rivals to lovers, small town stand-alone rom-com novel.
The story follows Brynn Cornell, a TV cohost, must salvage her career after exposing her real self on air. Returning to her hometown, she meets Sebastian Sudworth, a journalist who's withdrawn from the limelight. Assigned to drive her around, Brynn tries to charm him, leading to a shift from mutual dislike to unexpected attraction.
Where do I start? I really loved Brynn and Sebastian’s first interactions —it was entertaining!
Even though, the storyline started slow and how the author introduces the characters too much before they even meet, it makes the beginning a bit boring. And also, it’s very much of a slowly slow burn, for my liking.
I found it confusing at first how Brynn’s chapters were written in 1st POV and Sebastian’s chapters were in 3rd POV, but you get used to it.
Besides, Brynn’s too immature for being a 37 y/o woman in the beginning and that irritated me.
But, overall, this is a cute book to read plus it’s very well written.

Thank you to the publisher for allowing me to read this eARC.
I have a love hate relationship with this book. I like Sebastian, I like the writing, I loved the epilogue, and I loved a lot of the wittiness. However, I did not like Brynn and I don't think she earned any forgiveness, I also didn't like how any of our usual romcom tropes were used here. Brynn's character kept me from fully enjoying this as much as I wanted.
