Transgressive in a literarily interesting way rather than just for cheap shock value, The Starry Wisdom was both the most highbrow and most extreme and shocking Cthulhu Mythos anthology ever on its original release in the mid-1990s, putting August Derleth-imitating packages of mediocre pastiches to shame.
