The plot for this was interesting and there were so many funny lines throughout.  Unfortunately, I thought the character and relationship development fell short. There were some interesting aspects of the characters that the book never go to really explore. The main plot, where the FMC has to spend a lot of time with various other suitors to try to secure a proposal, took up so much time that it didn't allow much room for the actual romance to be developed. I found the abrupt changes in POV, sometimes in mid-paragraph, to be quite jarring and strange. The characters in this book are in their mid-20s but for some reason, they read as late teens or early 20s to me. I still enjoyed the book overall, but I wish I could have felt more strongly about the main relationship.

I bought this on a whim after the digital copy went on sale, but found myself greatly enjoying it! I expected a bit more fluff and grand romance so in that, I was let down a little… but the writing and loveliness of the characters more than made up for it. Really sweet fun read!

Extremely fluffy romance read. I didn’t feel hooked into the plot until about 75% in. The stakes felt very low to me and each character read as a regurgitation of some other vaguely Regency era characters. The ending was very obvious from the beginning to me, so that contributes to my low rating.

I think the author missed a major opportunity to delve deeper into Radcliffe’s war experiences which left him feeling very surface level to me. Kitty was the only character who read as more than 75% fleshed out and original. I did enjoy how shameless she was in her fortune hunting pursuits and her witty exchanges with various characters. Even though we have the viewpoints of many characters throughout the book, I didn’t actually get to know almost any of them. Again Kitty as my exception here, I couldn’t tell you much about the inner workings of any of the other people in the book.

Overall, I won’t say that I hated this book or disliked it. It just wasn’t for me.

This was the happiest I’ve been reading a book in a while, and I never wanted it to end.

The love story was admittedly cute, but the plot didn’t do much for me, and the characters weren’t very compelling.

I almost DNFd this because I was having a hard time with the ruthlessly fortune hunting main lady and the upper-class judgemental male lead, but then the book took an interesting turn and I was intrigued for the long run. I'm glad I stuck with it! I enjoyed the character growth the leads went through and the romance ended up having a few tropes I actually like. I enjoyed seeing things play out for the side characters as well. I'd recommend this to anyone who likes historical romance for the plot and love stories but won't miss the spice.

Not a slow story, but PG and extremely slow burn. The main thing that bugged me was the Aunt's minor subplot out of nowhere being resolved so easily but all in all enjoyable.
