I'm not sure how much a fan I am of alternate histories, even if they include magic. I'm also not sure the danger of the Ethan vs. Sephira conflict was really driven home. Ethan seemed to have no trouble at all with protecting himself from both her and her minions.

It was a nice little setup story though, and "Uncle Reg" seems interesting.
