“You see, bars in Hell only serve Jägermeister.”

I had very low expectations going into this. Sign Here has been sitting on my shelf since 2022. It was a Book of the Month pick that sounded intriguing, but every time I went to grab it, something else caught my interest more. It's hard to pinpoint its genre—it's funny but dark. The story revolves around a guy who works in Hell (literally, envision Hell as corporate America), specifically in the Deals department where they prey on vulnerable humans still on the surface. The story follows a massive deal the main character is working on, his involvement in it, and a colleague's attempt to manage her own big break, and it all comes together in the end in a way I did definitely did not see coming. There is no morally grey, the characters are bleak with little morals. Yet, it's incredibly interesting and I regret not reading this sooner.

Sign Here pulled me in because it offered me everything I so want in a novel, and it absolutely fulfilled its promises. I hope it, unlike Pey (or Cal), isn’t a demon, because I’d be really screwed.

At first, the parallel plots seemed so simple: there’s a family with some skeletons in their closets, and a demon willing to exploit them. I’ve always been interested in subversive theological themes, which is why I picked up Sign Here in the first place, so I was immediately curious about the implications of this corporate Hell system. The plot became quite complex at points, with multiple stories and perspectives at the forefront, but this complexity made the payoffs so worth it. All of the plot twists made *so* much sense! This attention to every detail across this complex timeline was really wonderful.
