Easily the best book in the series and a big step up from the first book. The world grows much bigger and the mystery of why the world is the way it is makes for an intriguing and tense story. The big twist at the end was weird and still is weird to me to this day but I would not say it was bad.

A bit less going on in this book than book #1, but we finally get some lore answers! Not all of them, but enough to feel that "happy until the next book" feeling.

My only real complaint about The Scorch Trials is the girls needed better characterization. The few we meet were pretty flat. Just kinda there. Teresa is the most well-rounded female character so far, but even she could use some work.

Really enjoying this series! I liked this one a little less than the furst one because I liked the challenges the characters faced more in the first book.

Duuuuuuuuddeeee idk how the fuck a YA novel is laying me the fuck out but I'm quaking in my boots rn.
That last 15 mins had me screaming in the car.
While there were parts that got a little annoying or boring. Overall the book had me interested and dying to know what happened next. I finished it in 2 days. It was brutal and I'm surprised it's so uncensored for being a teen book.  I mean there was decapitation, death by lightening, psychological torture, and graphic violence. I mean they def don't give YA vibes but it's crazy dif from the movies.
The romance feels really forced and kinda get in the way of the plot, but I guess there was a point to it all. *
I feel like everyone's reactions to the traumatic events were pretty realistic. Like Tom is really affected by every death and event and you can tell all these kids are super traumatized

BRENDAAAAA WHHHAAATTTT???
* FUCK Theresa, that bitch should burn. The whole betrayal not betrayal bit had me so confused. I was crying for my poor Thomas.
Jorge is really uninvolved in this story compared to what the movie showed.
Deaths in this one: decapitation, death by lightening, burned to death, stabbed, torn apart by weird monster things,

Minho (and probably Newt as well) is the only thing that really kept me reading.

Also the whole telepathy thing was so bad and lazy, and the way it just jumped from person to person was just not my cup of tea. There were a bunch of plot holes, too.

I really wanted to like it as a huge fan of the films, but it was okay at the very most.
