Nuanced and uncompromising in its portrayal of trauma after discrimination, it still serves as a cute and heartfelt fantasy adventure with lovely character building and a mature narrative.

I did like it, it was fun. But the drawing style kind of irked me. I feel sacrilegious saying this, but I liked the movie much better.

This is easily a 5-star book for me but nothing prepared me for

the major angst at the end of the book

. This is definitely a favourite now and I think I'm going to rewatch the movie for the 3rd time now lol
