I felt like this book started out slow, but picked up very quickly once the story started. I really enjoyed the character dynamic that intertwined the grumpy-sunshine trope with the "student-teacher" trope. You can also tell that the author (Ali Hazelwood) knows her stuff when it comes to the science field, which makes sense since she has a degree in neuroscience.

It's honestly a good read if you're looking for something to sit back and relax rather than be on the edge of your seat constantly.

This was my first intro to Ali Hazelwood and safe to say I am hooked. I genuinely couldn’t put this book down and read it in one day. I enjoyed the balance of romantic and (especially female) platonic friendships throughout the story.

This book would be rated higher for me if every twist wasn’t so predictable.
The only part that actually made me gasp was when Tom assaulted Olive. The pain of experiencing that and then hiding it from Adam was beautifully written in my opinion. I think Ali perfectly captured Olive’s struggle of deciding if she should tell Adam and risk him losing his relationship with Tom or not.

The only thing that irked me about this story was just the amount of staff willing to date students. Maybe it’s more realistic at the PhD level but I was kind of grossed out about how no one (esp other staff) seemed to care about the power imbalance of that.

The Love Hypothesis was a fun story to read and as a biologist, this holds a special place in my heart.

This was really enjoyable! I struggled a bit with the miscommunication/lying trope as I always get 2nd hand embarrassment from those. But I still really enjoyed it, and could definitely detect the Reylo beginnings of this author in the work.

Wow I absolutely hated this book. I am so icked out by a PhD student dating a professor (even worse that it’s in the same department, especially because he liked her since she was interviewing??? Not to mention that we’re supposed to forget that Adam is a toxic PI because he’s nice to Olive. I know too many PIs that have reputations, so I could not get into the idea of her dating an asshole. The science was all over the place (why is a cancer researcher using the word channelrhodopsin in a scientific talk?). And the character’s reference to every type of science and statistics was so annoying and often irrelevant and inaccurate. The one thing I did like about this book was that at the beginning, it painted a very accurate picture of how hard it is to be an academic and how toxic academia is. But, as a recently defended grad student, it was mostly just triggering. The story was extremely predictable (I knew Tom was toxic and would threaten to steal her research, that Adam was the guy from the bathroom, Adam was actually interviewing at Harvard) that it was just boring. And honestly, the whole premise was stupid and made no sense. The premise of the fake dating made 0 sense. Final complaint: the sex scene was so off-putting. I don’t mean to ick anyone’s yum, but this guy having such giant fingers (and penis) that it causes her pain is not attractive… I could go into more detail but no one will probably even read this. This would have been a DNF for me if I wasn’t stubborn and always finish books.

Mira, me he echado unas risas. Romcom bastante chula, check TW, pero no os esperéis la octava maravilla ni nada de eso. Yo voy con mi propia vara de medir porque cada uno tiene sus fetiches.
