This book gives a very in depth look into Merkel’s life and political career. Sometimes it was a little repetitive but, overall it framed events in informative and interesting ways.

This was a pretty good overview of Mutti. It was a bit too fawning at times, but even for folks who aren't CDU supporters it still covered the reasons why one still can admire the arc of Merkel’s career and her more notable decisions and what it took for her to become Budeskanzlerin.

I devoured this. A rare deep dive into the personal life, political journey and legacy of one of the most significant leaders of our time. An incredibly private public figure, this memoir draws on a huge array of sources to construct a picture of AngMerks. Perhaps slightly pro-Merkel, but still highly critical of her most questionable political decisions.

Engaging survey of the life and career of one of the most important public figures (if not the most important) of the past twenty years. I was particularly engaged by Merkel’s role in preventing a full on war following Russia’s invasion of Crimea in 2014, especially in light of current events.

After her term was up, and my dad recommended a documentary about her, I wanted to learn more about Angela Merkel. She is an amazing woman! I particularly found interesting: her success with keeping her private life private, the way she developed her signature hand gesture, her life growing up in East Berlin, her relationship to fashion, and her political savvy.
