This was a fascinating portrait of Germany’s former leader. She lived a very modest and private life, something that makes me respect her even more.

A thorough account of Merkel's political life and her personality. An extraordinarily interesting read for anyone who has questions about one of the greatest political figures in modern history that demand answers.

This was a well written, interesting biography of Angela Merkel, highlighting her many strengths, but not shying away from her shortcomings.

I know more about Ms. Merkel now whereas before I knew next-to-nothing. Still comes across as only slightly better than next-to-nothing.

So many current biographies of public figures are excruciatingly long. This is just the right length, well written, engaging and informative. After reading this I have a great deal of admiration for Angela Merkel.

Really enjoyed this biography, and learning about Angela Markel. Because she is so private, this could be one of the most detailed and accurate sources available about her personal life, and the motivations and reasons behind decisions she’s made as Chancellor.
Also, it ended up being a really interesting source of information about German and E.U. relations with Russia, and as someone with little familiarity with the geopolitical landscape of the area, it made me think about the European response to the current Russian war against Ukraine. I can only imagine how heartbreaking this is for her to watch unfold.
