As I reside in Germany, it's only natural that I want to learn more about the country. Typically, I begin with an overview kind of book when exploring a country. I can't recall why this book took precedence since I've never been a fan of biographies. But, what can I say? I ended up enjoying it more than I expected. What particularly intrigued me were the relationships Merkel had with other world leaders. This book made me appreciate Merkel's unique style of exerting power as a woman, despite lacking role models in her becoming.
This book is ideal for those seeking to understand why Merkel's achievements as the Chancellor of Germany are often overlooked and offers an alternative perspective on power in a world dominated by strongman politics.

A truly fantastic book, When one thinks of Germany, and beyond that scope Europe. I think 99% of us automatically think of Angela Merkel. A great little inside with some great (new to me) information on a phenomenal person

What an impressive, intelligent, pragmatic, and compassionate leader. Wish we had more like her. Amazing how she took Germany’s reputation from the orchestrators of the Holocaust to being the most welcoming and humanitarian country in the world when it comes to assisting/welcoming refugees.
I had no idea she grew up in East Germany.
Hearing how she dealt with Putin, and the subprime mortgage collapse that caused a banking crisis the world over, and Trump, and refugees, and the AFD made me respect even more somebody I previously respected but didn't know enough about.

I found Merkel very relatable. The descriptions of her style of negotiation and use of power give others (like those who are not bombastic charismatic leaders) a formula to follow.
