She and I are like two separate halves to a whole. Separate in that the two of us could live life apart and be successful, but when we are together -- when we are whole -- that's when the magic happens.
I know before going into a Katie McGarry book that I'm going to get amazing characters and an engaging, extremely well written story. That's just a given. She has not written a book yet that I haven't fallen completely in love with. Her books are so full of emotion. And Take Me On was no different.
I have to say that I was a bit dubious going into this one. I wasn't previously a fan of West's. He didn't really endear himself to me at all in Crash Into You. His actions and his attitude kind of turned me off. But it just goes to show that first impressions can be deceiving, because it wasn't too far into Take Me On that I was completely smitten. On the outside, he is a bad boy who doesn't really give a toss. There are those crappy first impressions again, because on the inside he has a heart of pure gold. Yeah, he's absolutely gorgeous, but for me, I fall in love with a person's heart. And his heart is huge! He is just so passionate about everything. The good, the bad and the ugly. He feels everything so deeply. There were times that my heart broke for him. But everything that is thrown at him, forces him to grow up and by the end of the book, the West that we have is a much more strong and mature version.
I'm in love with you. I'm in love with you and I don't know how to make you better. I'm in love with you and I shouldn't be. I'm in love with you and once you figure out who I am, you're not going to love me. I'm in love with you and I seem to fuck up the ones who love me back.
I absolutely loved Haley. Her strength was amazing. Her happy family life is turned upside down. Everything that was stability is taken away from her. She carries around the responsibilities of caring for and protecting her family, and has had to grow up way too quickly. But she does it all without question. She is tough, but on the inside she carries hurt. Hurt that her ex inflicted, and that makes her very wary to trust again. She is especially wary to place that trust in another fighter. But she doesn't count on West's persistence.
For strangers, West and I have become uncomfortably familiar in a rapid amount of time. Our worlds didn't just collide; they merged as paint spilled on a sidewalk and it's like neither one of us will be the right color again.
The romance between West and Haley was a slow burn. Because of Haley's past hurt, it took her quite a while to finally give into West. The attraction was there from the start for both of them, but it was West that didn't hold back. He was caring and protective, right from the very start. He knew what he wanted and he was more than willing to give Haley what she needed.
These dual point of views are my weakness at the moment. It's the best of both worlds. Being inside both main characters heads is perfection. What better way to get a true and complete insight into the whole story. My favourite is almost always the males point of view and this time was no different. I love being inside the head of a guy as he's completely undone by a girl, and getting West's emotions, thoughts and feelings as he was falling for Haley was incredible.
I was so happy to have Isaiah, Rachel and Abby make an appearance. I always miss characters once a book is finished, so to get to spend a little bit more time with them was a welcome bonus. I really, really hope that we get Abby's story at some point. I really want her to experience a wonderful, crazy, good love. She's not always easy to like, but I thought we got real glimpses into a deeper Abby this time around.
Katie McGarry once again has nailed the perfect young adult read. True, realistically flawed characters, combined with her amazing ability to create a story that never fails to completely grab your heart and make you fall in love. She has such a knack for writing strong characters.

A huge thank you to Harlequin Australia for the opportunity to review such a wonderful read.

3.5, I really liked it, but it felt like all her other books. It didn't really bring anything new. But I did enjoy her writing style.
I started it the day after it was released and I finally got around to finishing it, it was a good book, but I don't know it didn't grip or keep me interested as much as the first 3 books in the series.
Once again I've read a Katie McGarry book I really enjoyed. This one might have been my fave yet, though some of the other leading men have probably intrigued me a little more. But I really loved the story of West and Haley. Haley reminded me a little bit of the main character in the movie "Stick It" (and it turns out her name was Haley too!), but I think Haley's self esteem was way lower than movie-Haley's, for most of the book.
I look forward to seeing which book is next in line for me to read in this series!

3.5 stars for this fourth book in the pushing the limits series.
Whereas I loved everything, without a doubt, in the thunder road series, I remain a bit skeptical with this series after having just finishing this fourth book. I loved a lot of things about the books in this series so far, but I've got quite some remarks on a couple of them as well. The second book and now this fourth as well, unfortunately, couldn't quite captivate me as much as book 1 and 3 did.
Beforehand, I thought this fourth book was going to blow my socks off since the synopsis was so enthralling and West's character has had me interested since early on in the series when he made his first appearances. In hindsight, I got a bit disappointed I guess because maybe I've had too many expectations for this book? I don't know exactly.
It wasn't bad or anything, not at all. But I couldn't completely 'lose' myself to this book. Not as much as I did with other ones in this series, like the first and third book in particular. I can't exactly pinpoint what it is because I did like the main characters, minor characters and especially West in particular. Hayley was likable and intriguing enough as well I think and the appearances of Abby, Jax and Kayden were a lot of fun!
But somehow I couldn't connect with West and Hayley as much as I would've liked too.
The story-line was enthralling and interesting but sometimes it felt a bit 'pressured' instead of everything fluently developing, I guess? The romance was cute and the writing was typical McGarry so there's that. I love her writing so much and thankfully she never wavers on that front.
Well, this review is just crap I think, lol. I just can't seem to find the right words.
I hate giving a McGarry book less than 4 stars, and I hate it, even more, when I'm not able to put into words as to why I couldn't give it a 4+ star rating. But there are just quite a lot of mixed feelings about this book at the moment and I'm really bummed out about that.

I love this series but I didn't particularly like this couple :(
I love this book! Loveeedd it, probably my favourite one. West is amazing, I love him and he's my favourite out of the boys!
I really like how Katie always gives the characters hope at the end of each book.
I'd love to learn more about Abby and then Jax

Haley and West. What a powerful couple right there. I loved this book. The words on the page just captivate my attention and I could hardly put this book down. I loved it. Absolutely loved it.
West is amazing, except for his anger issues. He really has a temper on him, and if he doesn't keep that in check, he could get into some serious trouble.
Haley is so brave. She would do anything for her family, and she has quite a temper on her as well, though she keeps her in line.
This book made me laugh, shocked me, and scared me. This book also made me roll my eyes in disappointment.
I gave it four out of five stars for a couple reasons. First, West has blond hair in the book, and on the cover, he has brown. WHAT IS WITH THAT? Yea, it's a hot guy on the cover of the book, but they could've of chosen a boy that actually matched the physical appearance of the character. I mean, come on.
Also, I felt like this book was very repetative. Every time I read a new chapter, the same thing would be said, in just a different way, and it got really boring for a little bit in the beginning.
I also didn't like how Haley.

My favorite scene was.
This book was filled with sorrow, romance, anger, and lust. I would recommend this book to anybody looking for a good summer read with romance involved. I loved this book, and I will definitely read it again in the future.
Pushing the Limits is still my favorite book in the series, and I can't wait to read more of their love in the second book about them!

kept saying to herself "oh no, he's a fighter, I can't date him" Like I get it, you got hurt by a fighter before, but he is a completely different person than Matt, and the same thing wouldn't happen.Spoiler
Also, at the flea market, when Maggie climbed the haystack, and Haley finally realized that she was a fighter all along, and nver stopped, was annoying. There could've been so many better ways for to finally realize that she was a fighter all along, but the way she figured it out was a little cheesy in my opinion. My favorite scene was

when Haley and West were in West's room, and they started to be together. It was such a romantic scene, and when I read it, time literally stopped and I felt all the passion and love and romance between the two of them. I loved the whole entire scene, especially when West told Haley that he was a virgin. That must have been so difficult for him to confess, especially since she wasn't. But, it was such a romantic scene, and it will forever be in my top favorite scenes. This book was filled with sorrow, romance, anger, and lust. I love a kick ass heroine and a sexy swoony hero. Stories with growth and character development, stories about overcoming all the obstacles life throws at you. Take Me On had it all.
