for some reason, I love romances where the two characters meet in college and remember all their interactions. like in beach read, when they remember their encounters even though they both had romantic relationships with other people after college.
in this book, they're literally rival artists that have been competing SINCE college. they're obsessed with each other and their art. but they could never like the other one, no, no way... ;)
remembering each other from college just gives me major pining vibes and i love it.
also i loved the discussions about burnout and noah's carpal tunnel. also how much they emphasise communicating with each other by the end of the book <3

I really enjoyed all the aspects of comic and web comic writing and designing and publishing. And I think the two main characters were really interesting on their own. While they were both quite similar in their hobbies and career, their personalities were distinct enough so they didn't read like carbon copies of each other. I think I would read more stuff for the perspective of these two and their general lives.
What I didn't like was the romance. I think this is the first time I've read an "enemies to lovers" romance in a non-fantasy setting, and it does not work for me. I could not get behind believing that these two people didn't like each other for a second. Every bit of conflict they had between each other was just some form of miscommunication up until they finally got together. I also found the general plot to be pretty weak. The family dynamics of both characters were interesting, but their work on Leisah never captured my attention. I never knew where they were at with the work or how much they had left to do until all of a sudden they were finished.
TLDR: Very solid characters and some interesting comic and web comic insights, but a weak plot and romance.

The book was alright, but if I were to do it over, I wouldn’t listen to the audiobook. The actor that plays Noah is alright, though she has a diction thing that I don’t totally love (I feel like she puts a lot of emphasis on the last word of the sentence, not sure how else to explain). But the actor that plays Sage? When she’s reading lines from Noah? Nope. She sounds like she’s trying to fake a gruff voice or is kind of hoarse and annoyed. Overall, not my favorite and I sort of struggled to get through.
