very sad book about WW2. In a way predictable all WW2 books are tragic but I found it gripping in the way it was written and how many features of the tragedy of that wawere described

I felt as if I I was hyperventilating while reading the last chapter. So well written and such an incredible, sad, and meaningfully necessary story.

“I didn’t even know there were concentration camps just for women” hit me hard

“Men tell stories, women move on” even harder

please be a mini-series and not just a movie!

This is very heavy. I was never fond of historical fiction but this is so wonderfully written. I respect KH for writing this. Most of all I respect Isabelle and Vianne. I salute every mother that went through war times. It is definitely not easy.

Now here I am 9 years later having finally read it, and it blew me away just as I knew it would. This is a very emotional read that introduces WWII in France making it all the way through the war and after. There is also a viewpoint set in 1995 which is the current day for the book, and I was totally thrown by who that ends up being. Not sure if I missed something or if that's what Hannah intended but at the end I was
