Really enjoyed this book. Quirky and interesting.

Solid 3.5 fun & funny read

Just tried this on a whim since I had read of mention of Muriel Spark’s greatness in some review or another. Pretty amusing, and interesting to focus on petty dramas amongst a group of octogenarians. But it didn’t go much deeper than that for me.

Death is calling. A group of elderly friends, failing to deal with their mortality. Brilliant, if sad.

I'm a Muriel Spark fan and have enjoyed many of her other novels but found this very difficult to enjoy. It was clever and dark but somehow doesn't reach the level of her later books. Not sorry I read it but not one I would recommend.

As much as I love Muriel Spark, this one was just not my thing.

Pleasantly drawn portrait of a cast of friends and family making the best of their twilight years with a few twists and turns thrown in.
