I enjoyed reading this book, but there is also so much that could've been done better (in my opinion). I like the story, it is quite original. It is about a group shapeshifters in a small town and the problems the encounter.

First the thing that really attracts my attention is the way the author writes, I like her writing style, but I also think that she explains a little bit too much of the small details. At the end of the book I got annoyed every time they where going to get coffee. Oké this sounds really strange, but the author has a habbit of explaining all the little things the characters do and the characters love coffee. As a result of this there are a bit too many occassions where they want to talk and they are going to get coffee, if somethings wrong they get coffee, if they are going to visit someone they get coffee, well you get the idea. The word coffee is used a bit too much, I like it if small habits like these are explained, but the author overdoes it a bit.

Another thing that I miss in this book is the thoughts and feelings of the lead character Carly. I think Carly is an interesting character and much is going on in her life, but we don't really feel it with her. Part of this is due the the third person perspective, but I still would've liked to see more about her inner thoughts and how she struggles with everything. Now sometimes I had no idea why she did certain things or how she felt. Everything that happens is described, but I want to know how she feels about it. Also there is a huge amount of characters and sometimes I had difficulties remembering who was who. At the end of the book I had a good idea of who was who and how they where related, but at the beginning I really had troubles with this.

Another thing that I think could've been done better is the fact that there is so less explanation about the shapeshifters and their history. How do they shift how does this feel? They shift and that's all the explanation we get. Just they shift, not how they experience this shifting. Also there is hinted at some things and their importance, but again it is not really explained.

I just have to explain another thing, while I liked the story I didn't like the ending. Everything was solved a little bit too quickly, while they where struggling with these things for the whole book.

Oke so I gave a lot of critic, but it still is a book I enjoyed and I finished it in two days. It is an enjoyable and light read and I wanted to keep reading. It also has an original take on the shifters, although there isn't much explanation. But because of all the things that could be better, I still couldn't give this book more than 3 stars.

To conclude: I like the story, but there are also many things that annoyed me and could be done better. I would've preferred if we got to know more about the feelings of the lead character, less small events where explained and more information was given about shifting. Still it was an enjoyable and light read.
