Excellent fast paced book but a bit creepy! I don't suggest reading it at night :)

This was my first book by Dean Koontz that I’ve ever read. The idea of this book intrigued me to no end. The concept was fascinating. I can see why a lot of people love his work. He definitely knows how to keep a reader on the edge of their seat. He knows how to write to keep the pages turning. I’ve only ever read James Patterson books this fast. While his style of writing is not my favorite I still thoroughly enjoyed myself and this book. I’m very interested in reading more of his work and getting to know his style of writing even better. This was not my favorite Dean Koontz, by any means. It's the story of Billy, a bartender who has withdrawn from the world after effectively losing his one true love. He is forced back into the world when he leaves work one night and finds a note on his windshield that says something along the lines of, "If you don't take this note to the police, I'll kill a pretty blond school teacher. If you do take it to the police, I'll kill an elderly woman who is active in charity work." And a deadly game follows.

This was a pretty easy read, and there were some twists and turns, but I pretty much knew who was behind it all along. There wasn't anything terribly surprising in the book, and while I did like Billy's character pretty well, there really weren't any other characters developed at all. Like I said, it was just okay for me.
