I loved the introduction of Owen and seeing how Atticus relates to having an authority figure back in his life. I also loved seeing Granuaille have her own adventures.

such a great series. this book was just as good as the others. I recommend this series to all my friends, especially those that like The Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher.

Love it the various POVs, it was a nice addition to the story flow and helped in keeping a fast paced atmosphere so it was never boring, just loved it.

Each book makes me want to read even more about the rich universe that Hearne created.

Only slightly negative point (in my opinion) was the very small development in the large arch, sure some stuff was clarified but I felt that there was no development, anyways it's not a bad thing but definitely left a "where's the rest?" sensation.

Although I was thrown by the multiple voices used in this book's narrative, and I prefer the style of the previous books in the series, on the whole I enjoyed the book.

A delightful read from start to finish. I'm really liking the new character, Owen, as I find he adds a very interesting element to the story.

A handy summary of past events is presented in the beginning of Shattered, the seventh book in the Iron Druid Chronicles. To be honest, even though I barely remember events from the past few books, I only scanned the summary.

That is because the draw of The Iron Druid Chronicles has always been the characters—the stories are fun and exciting, but they serve merely as backdrops for me to hang out with the Most. Loveable. Gang. Ever. One of the reasons why I picked up the series at all was because I met quite a few Iron Druid fans at San Diego Comic Con 2011. There’s nothing like rabid, foaming-at-the-mouth fans that will convince me to read a book, pronto. Well, I guess, as long as it’s not Twilight. Now for the full disclosure: I am now one of these rabid, foaming-at-the-mouth fans. I love these characters so much, I’d read about them painting their toenails. Thankfully, Kevin Hearne has given them quite a bit to do in Shattered, none of them involving toenails.

After the events in Hunted, druid Atticus O’Sullivan, born in 83 B.C.E. as Siodhachan Ó Suileabháin, learned that his mentor, Archdruid Eoghan Ó Cinnéide (Owen Kennedy, when Anglicized), was not dead but rather frozen in time. As the result of the death of a major character in Hunted, Atticus received instructions on how to retrieve the Archdruid. Though the two are allies, the relationship is tense, as talkative Owen rarely had anything nice to say about his apprentice. But they work together in Shattered to figure out who has been ordering the latest attempts against Atticus’s life.

Meanwhile, druid Granuaile, Atticus’s lover and former apprentice, receives word that her archeologist father is in India, possessed by demons that are spreading an incurable disease.

With Atticus and Granuaile apart for most the book, they are more vulnerable to attack. In the Iron Druid world, all gods exist, as long they are worshipped somewhere. For each divine ally they may have, the druids have pissed off so many more, and there’s always at least one god looking to destroy them. Shattered is no exception.

While we briefly visited Granuaile’s perspective in Hunted, Shattered’s viewpoints are divided among Atticus, Owen, and Granuaile—the last three surviving druids. Owen’s perspective was especially refreshing, as in his eyes, Atticus isn’t a hero, One Who Can Do No Wrong, but rather he’s forever Owen’s apprentice, One Who Mucks Things Up.

It’s rare that a series can keep up the steam, but The Iron Druid Chronicles chugs along briskly. Hunted, being an extended chase scene—however entertaining—had me worried that the series had nowhere to go, storywise. Shattered proved my fears wrong.

Hammered, the third book of the series, is still my favorite: I loved all the entertaining stories of how Thor was a total jerk (jerk being a euphemism). But Shattered ranks up there, and isn’t a bad place for newcomers to start. Just know that you’ll be reading the remaining six books as soon as you finish this one.

Another very fun Iron Druid entry; I can't wait to read what happens from here.

I didn’t enjoy this book as much as the others. I dunno something about the three perspectives?? I don’t know... the ending definitely surprised me though. Guy came out of the damn woodwork! Lol literally. But it was nice seeing Granuaile have an adventure of her own. No matter how it went. Also, fucking Loki dude. Bitchy ass bitch.
