I'm being brutally honest with you and this simply did not hit for me. I LOVE a family legacy, I LOVE mystery, I LOVE stories inspired by fairy tales, mythology, or children's folk tales, but not this one.
I was confused and constantly thought, 'Am I just not smart enough for this book?'
I finished it but I should have DNF-ed.

the beginning was really promising, I liked the fairytale aspect, the writing and the promise of an engaging plot - but by the middle, I was just very confused. then I became the tiniest bit horrified (what was the gingerbread house????) and then I just hated that ending (which was no ending, what even happened at the end).
i honestly couldn't tell you what happened, it was just so vague??? really disappointed actually
