I really did try to enjoy Hades. I put aside whatever thoughts I had of Halo and tried to read this novel from fresh eyes. But really, I don't think truly liking this series is possible anymore.

Bethany is, I believe, not an angel but a teenage girl masquerading as an angel. Honestly, I'm sure it was an ingenious idea to have an angel so young and naive that she becomes likable to those around her. Unfortunately, she didn't have that effect on me. I don't believe angels actually behave the way they do in the series, I'm more on the side that angels are warriors of God, but really, Bethany takes the cake.

She's so naive, too trusting of strangers, leaves her friends in the lurch, and she comes off as too preachy. Lines such as "the purpose of sex is to create life" are commonplace. Disregarding whatever personal opinion I have on such matters, such lines from a book is only going to turn off readers. Oh, oh, and her relationship with Xavier? Still very unhealthy. The fact that they can fall in love and remain in love given their interactions and how they met, etc, is not only amazing, it requires a genius to understand it. The ending of Hades? Can't say I didn't see that one coming but WTF?!

HADES IS ALSO NOT HELL. Hades is also known as the Underworld. This is not Hell. They are two completely different entities. As a fan of Greek mythology, I was deeply offended and disappointed too. Adornetto's idea of Hades/Hell is really weird as well, in the sense that it's full of preachy ideas, of things NOT to do while on earth if you don't wanna end up in hell after you're dead.

Another BIG disappointment was the Lake of Dreams plot device. Since Bethany has been kidnapped, no one is there to narrate what's going on Earth so with the help of the Lake of Dreams,
Spoilershe's about to astral-project and see what's happening in the real world to push the story along
. Let me tell you, it was so boring. Also, in all my readings of Greek mythology, I've never read anything about the Lake of Dreams, let alone
Spoilerthe whole astral-projection shit
.

So really, I don't see why I should continue with the series except well, it's fun to see how everything unfolds.

I liked this one better than the other two because I liked the interesting dynamic between Beth and Jake. I thought it was cool to watch myself question the lines of what was good and bad depending on the situation, and play with the idea of redemption for a demon. So those chapters I liked more than I originally thought I would.

the first book of this trilogy was sooo bad I didn't like it but I'm glad I kept reading because Hades is so so much better

I liked that in the second book Bethany was in hell. IT was a different setting but it was still very teenage drama.

It's kinda boring because this book is just about how Beth is in Hell with Jude, and how she dosn't like it and blah blah blah.

Hard to get into. Good towards the end but not what I expected. I enjoyed the first book much more than this sequel.

I absolutely loved this! It was perfect, I loved everything about it - it was definitely better than Halo.
And that cliffhanger?? The ending had me crying (out of happiness), I can't wait to read Heaven.

After reading the first book in this series, I had to read the second. It honestly was good but I little cheesy to say the least!

YA at its worst.
