The first book in this series was bad but fun. The second book was just...bad. I gave up about a third of the way through, so it's possible the book becomes brilliant later, but I doubt it.
I was bored and decided to take a look at my rated books. Seeing that this book is rated 0.04 higher than 'The Knife of Never Letting Go' (the first book of the Chaos Walking trilogy, my favorite series) made me want to write my first review. I'll do a short one. I don't remember the book very well, it being about four years since I read it.
Bethany is the stupidest protagonist I have ever read about. The characters are supposed to be flawed, I like main characters who make mistakes, but Beth is not written like that, It's like she's supposed to be amazing but she's just stupid. The first time she sees Xavier, you know the plot. They fall in love, she keeps it secret that she's an angel and he finds out later but loves her all the same. About what happens, just slightly different.
Xavier is this super hot guy whom all the girls are in love with. In no time he and Bethany loves each other. Oh, wait, no, he loves his car just as much! (I actually think it is written in the first book). But this review isn't about Halo. In the end second book, the characters are just the same as in the beginning of the first. All right, they love each other even more, but that's about that.
Another thing is that you know that nothing bad will happen. Everything is saved in the last moment.
I think I read this to see if it was better than the first one. It is, a lot. This had a more interesting plot. I think I'd actually give it 1.5 stars.
I can't think of more to write, I've read a couple of reviews and they sum it all pretty much up.
And then again, I have respect for everyone who has ever written a book, however terrible.
Sorry about my English, I'm Danish xD

Unlike most people, I actually ENJOYED Hades.
Out of the Halo trilogy, Hades was probably the best book. It's edgy, there's plot, and it doesn't feel like it is split into two books.
Yes, Beth (our main character) goes on and on about not being able to be with Xavier for the majority of the book, but that's what her character was made to do: love Xavier. And yes, the book does revolve around their relationship, but it also brings out the other plots.
My favourite thing about this book is that there are a lot of side characters that are introduced: Tucker, Hannah and Taylah from Halo, whom we get a little more insight about.
All our other characters from the first book are here, including Jake Thorn. Like, I said, this book is action packed and is the best book in the series. There's still romance, but it does take a set back to the Hades setting. Check out my full review here: http://thelovelygrace.blogspot.ca/2013/09/hades-by-alexandra-adornetto-review.html

idk how much of a straight edge the author must be if hell is just a sin bin of nightclubs and seedy hotels for our protagonist to sneer at bc she (and the author) is a good christian girl
the first book of this trilogy was sooo bad I didn't like it but I'm glad I kept reading because Hades is so so much better

Honestly, this wasn't what I expected. At first, I resented the change. Then the change grew on me. I guess we got to know Jake Thorn a little more. And there was a lot more adventure than romance itself. Review to be continued...
Updated review:
So I never really got to update the review, did I? Honestly, the series just went downhill from here.

Series: Halo trilogy
Characters: Tucker - not much older than Beth, brown jagged hair, has a limp, works in hell for Jake
Asia - tall, jet black hair, coffee colored skin, slut, bitch, lusts for Jake, demon
Hanna - honey colored hair, seems sweet, made a deal with Jake and is stuck working in hell for him
What happened: At the Halloween party the girls have a seance and it raises Jake from hell. There he convinces Beth that Xavier is hurt at the lake and brings her to him. But on the ride she sees Xavier and he is fine but tells her the person isn't who she thinks and she needs to get off. She realizes it is Jake and she is trapped, and he brings her to hell. So blah blah blah in hell. Basically Jake is convinced that he loves Beth and she is to be his. Oh and guess what Jake is a prince, one of the original demons. So he is important and Beth is to be princess. Tuck is nice to her and shows her how she can appear in her old life. They can't see her but she can see them. Back in Venus Cove Molly learns about the angels and she ends up kissing Gabriel but he denies her saying he doesn't feel things like humans. But I want him to okay because I want them together. So anyways Beth screws up and like makes a butterfly and people get all pissed and Satan steps in and is like oh you are going to die. And Jake gets all like oh hell no you aren't killing her. But they try and burn her at the stake expect it doesn't work because I think God was protecting her. And then Jake gets her out and helps her fly but he realizes that she has been going back to check on her old life and gets pissed and says how he will take care of it. So she goes back to warn Xavier and Jake is trying to run him off the road and she is able to appear to Xavier and tell him what is going on. She has to make a deal with Jake to save Xavier's life though. Back in hell Jake tells her that she must sleep with him because he spared Xavier's life. Luckily just as it is all going to happen they come and rescue her and it turns out Jake wasn't going to keep his promise of not hurting Xavier. Sadly she gets to leave but doesn't get to save Hanna and Tuck :(
Quotes: "That's where you're wrong. You make me feel things, Beth. That's why you have to stay. Hell's a whole lot brighter with you in it."
-Jake
"If heaven couldn't separate us, Hell's got no damn chance."
-Xavier
