The thing that I liked most about this book is that it didn't take forever to get things started. And even though most of the plot was built on love and jealousy, I didn't find the romance part of this book over bearing. There actually seemed to be more action then romance, which couldn't have made me happier.
The one thing (and basically the only thing) that bugged me was that Beth swore a couple times. She's an angel, she shouldn't be swearing. This was the only thing I didn't like. Everything else was great. I think everyone should read this series because it's quite different from anything else I've ever read.

I know this is hard to believe but I actually liked this book better than the first one. The characters were more developed and they were more relatable this time around. There were less bible references which makes the story more...understandable I guess, for those people who don't know a lot about the bible. I wasn't going to finish the series but this book made me change my mind. Alexandra Adornetto has improved in her writing and if this trend continues, then Halo #3 (Heaven?) is bound to be the best one yet.
Story was ok. Just didn't think it was amazing. I hope the next book is better.
I was very disappointed with this book, I really enjoyed the first one and thought I was going to love this one. I only got to chapter 6 and could make myself read anymore. I think I will try to read it again, but not for a while.
I enjoyed the characters in this and the drama that occurred throughout the book. I was intrigued to read more of the book and loved the character progression with the main villain in the book.
A good sequel. More action in this book, but it made me dislike Bethany sometimes because she was the typical damsel in distress, waiting around for someone else to rescue her. Her relationship with Jake is also confusing because if you really don't like someone and disagree with everything they stand for, why would you cooperate with them in any way?
I did not read this book for its amazing literary devices. I did, however, read it for the pure simple joy of a young adult romance. And that’s exactly what I got. The characters are immature and naive. There was nothing surprising about the story. It was very predictable. I gave it three stars because of the immature characters and the predictability of the story.
Better than Halo. I finally felt like the characters had real personalities and the plot was interesting enough that I found myself wanting to know what happens next.
My biggest complaint is with descriptions. There were so many that went like this: "Gabriel, Ivy, and Xavier sat around the dining table. It was littered with pizza boxes and cans of soda-something rarely seen in our house. They must have run out of napkins because they were using a roll of paper towel. It told me the no one could muster the motivation for the usual routines, and cooking and shopping were the first to go" (page 169). There's no need to point out the obvious. As a reader, I can tell that worrying about Beth has gotten in the way of their everyday routines from the pizza boxes and the fact that they've run out of napkins, so stating it just feels redundant and takes away from an otherwise good description of the setting and current state of the characters. Another one that stood out to me was, "He looked superhuman, as if he could shoulder a car with minimal effort. That was probably because he could if the situation called for it" (page 334). I'm not sure exactly why, but reading this made me cringe, and there were so many more bad descriptions throughout the book that even though I wanted to know how it ended, it was really hard to finish.

In the second book in the series Beth and Xavier are happy. But not for long. Jake Thorn is back and he wants Bethany and he will do anything to keep her with him.
Now, i must admit I wasn't completely in love with this book but there were pros and cons.
What I loved:
- Xavier and Beth's loyalty to one another. Their love for each other is so deep and beautiful that it makes you want something like that.
- Hannah and Tucker. They were amazing and I loved them.
- Gabriel. Always Gabriel. He's hot and feisty!
- Michael was kind of cool
What I didn't like:
- Jake. Like the dude is an asshole.
- The description of everything. I don't need to know what everything looks like all the time. I have an imagination and it can be useful.
- Hannah and Tuck
- THAT ENDING NEARLY KILLED ME!
All in all it was a good read. Took me a while to get into it but after a few months I picked it back up and thoroughly enjoyed it.
