It was kinda boring in the middle, because there was a lot of transition stuff because we are moving from the numbered cards to the face ones. I’m excited for the next one because we are going to see the kind of clubs battle and it really interesting.

I don't understand the inclusion of side stories, especially lengthy ones, but at least this one introduces us to a key character. I need a character list or map at this point, haha. There's so much going on, it's hard to keep up with the names and games.

this is the best one in the series so far! I don’t know how I haven’t mentioned this in my reviews but I really do love the art in this manga. I think aso really shines in the horror, such as when
arisu is hallucinating his dead friends
as well as the more stylized fantasy aspects, such as when the characters are traveling to borderland. I love how they look like drawing mannequins - I feel like it’s working as a hint that
it’s not really their bodies in borderlands, just their minds/souls. it’s just a representation of themselves as they fight for their lives; just a mannequin, a stand-in.

I also enjoyed usagi’s religious theory for why they’re in borderland and why these horrible things keep happening to them. I don’t recall this in the show at all so I enjoyed the new perspective - and I really don’t think she’s saying anything crazy like kuina was suggesting.

I see some more of the changes they made in the netflix show and I can understand why they were made. i still think it’s a great adaptation of this series.
one thing I do really like a lot better in the show is how they deal with kuina being trans. I wouldn’t say the writer is transphobic at all, but in the series she deals with transphobia two separate times and it’s nice that in the show it’s a non-issue (excluding her past. but I think her past is integral to her character), which is the way it should be.

this is the last english translation published :( so im going to have to wait to read the rest which suuuuuucks, im so invested right now.
