Super quick and easy read. I got sucked into the story and didn’t put it down until I finished (except for a snack break). I love how we see backgrounds of so many characters and there were several turns I didn’t expect!

It has been quite some time since I read a 'low-brow' murder mystery and this one hit the spot. Hamish Macbeth is a perennial favorite and I look forward to visiting the 'sleepy' Scottish town of Lochdubh one of these days. (n_n)

Her books keep getting better and the plot twists a bit more complicated. This is unfortunately the last of the freebies in the Hamish Macbeth series. Too bad.

As much as I love the Macbeth series I didn't find this one as good as some of the others. Shame but at least it was better than the Agatha Raisin ones.

ugh

- I've read a few of Beaton's Hamish MacBeath Mysteries, and they are light, easy reads
- sprinkled with entertaining Scottish idioms

This audiobook series, like the Agatha Raisin series, makes for light entertainment while working on other things.

Death of a Poison Pen by M.C.Beaton

Blurb

When the residents of Lochdubh begin receiving poison pen letters, no one takes them seriously. But Constable Hamish Macbeth fears them, and his instincts prove correct when the postmistress is found hanging from a rope with a vicious poison pen letter at her feet.

My Opinion

Another short but entertaining visit to Lochdubh. A cosy, quick read that will keep you guessing. After discovering this series, I am working through them as quickly as the audiobooks are available from my local library - there is just something about the writing that allows me to read them back to back.
