Brutal Vows este a patra carte din seria Queens & Monsters de J.T. Geissinger. Fiecare volum urmărește alt cuplu, deci nu e musai să fie citite în ordinea apariției, de aceea am decis să lecturez anume această carte, pentru că premisa mi-a trezit interesul. Este o mafia romance, cu protagonista o văduvă, care a jurat că nu se va mai căsători vreodată, iar protagonistul este mâna dreaptă a șefului mafiei irlandeze, și trebuie să se căsătorească (o uniune aranjată) cu nepoata protagonistei. E genul de carte cu o poveste previzibilă, care m-a ținut în priză prima jumătate, mi-a plăcut mult cum se trag de șireturi cele două personaje, dar de la jumătatea poveștii încolo m-am plictisit și nu am mai vrut să continui. Parcă a ajuns în punctul unde cei doi sunt împreună, dar felul în care a fost realizat acest lucru se bătea cap în cap cu personalitatea protagonistei, iar protagonistul s-a transformat efectiv peste noapte într-un terminat după complimente. Păcat, era un romance promițător, dar nu a fost să fie.

Slightly better than the middle two in the series, not as good as the first. I enjoyed the premise of the relationship of this one a lot more than the kidnapping Stockholm syndrome of the middle two.
Reyna and Spider’s relationship was a lot more believable to me and how they deal with their trauma and need for control is very well written. Tbh it’s let down by the drama bought in from the previous in the series.

They fell in love too quickly and it kinda felt too fast. Hated the mentions of the other love stories, especially the ones with Stockholm Syndrome. Also, stupid how she made her bro the beneficiary to the insurance policy, when she could of made her mom the beneficiary instead.
