Much much better than the first. I actually like Nick sooo much more in this book. And gees, Sarah Rees Brennan is doing an excellent job of keeping the reader guessing!

I can't even begin to tell you how much I love this book. It was so spectacular I don't even know where to start. WOW...just WOW!

First read on release day 2010
Read again 2011

Cool, dark YA supernatural. Love the inclusion of LGBT characters and way more action that your typical girl-meets-boy cutesie stuff. Looking forward to finishing the series!

When I first started reading this book, I was a little disappointed because it was from Mae's point of view. I don't like her very much. But once I got into the book, I loved it. They dynamics between Alan and Nick and Nick trying to become more human. What I like most was Nick struggling with his emotions and not knowing how to show them. It all works so well.
As always, the way Brennan describes the characters emotions and realationships captivates me and even days after I was finished with this book, I couldn't stop thinking about it.

Good story from the viewpoint of Mae. Demons & magicians

Oh, I loved this sequel! I was skeptical of the switch in POV, but it worked. And I'm still of the opinion that Nick and Jamie would be an adorable sarcastic train wreck.

THAT ENDING....JUST.... I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING! Ergggggggg............ this book was soooo good! Ahhhh Sarah what did you do to me?!

I wish I read this book sooner, I enjoyed this a lot. I even laughed out loud a few times. Maybe I have an odd sense of humor but quotes like this one crack me up.

"Mae’s first impulse was to die of shame, but she realized after a hot, stomach-clenching moment that this was probably impractical."

Seriously. XD

Mae's voice is interesting, she's smart, funny and I want to know where the hell she buys those awesome shirt of hers. Can't say I liked this slightly more slutty side of her (she got more lip than a girl in a kissing booth), but I could relate to where all this was coming from.

I really hope things will work out with... well somebody.

Her brother Jamie is hilarious, he's the kind of younger brother I'd like to have for some reason. Mostly because I know I would be ferociously protective of him.

And last but not least, Nick. I went back and forth from wanting to kiss him to wanting to kill him but if I'm honest with myself... there isn't a thing he could do wrong in my book, he's just so... I don't even know, he's Nick, what more can I say? And he has a Vanquish. That's so awesome I feel the need to say it twice: He has a Vanquish. Okay, one more time: A VANQUISH. I know that car lost a lot of it's cool after we found out Sparklepeen owns one, but I actually knew the car existed before it became public knowledge. I'd like one in black please.

I struggled a bit with what to rate this. I would give it a solid 3.5

I really liked this book once we hit the middle. The parts leading up to the middle seemed a bit confusing. Granted, I read the first book in this series a few months ago, but there were some things that I felt like I was missing, even after having read the first book.

It was nice to get a book mostly from Mae's POV. I loved her human lessons with Nick. That was when I really started to like the books. I love the sneakyness of the characters and the sarcasm. Sometimes Nick does act more human than he should, if he is struggling as much as he is, especially with humor and sarcasm. I think that this is simply a segway into him becoming more human, but I can't be sure.

While I liked Mae's POV, there were some odd POV changes that didn't make all that much sense. I also wasn't always clear on what exactly the threat was with the bad guys. Perhaps that is simply because I was more interested in the fluffy human lessons.

I would like to give Nick human lessons. Looking forward to the sequel... not sure how I'll be able to resist the sequel until after I get home!
adventurous dark funny medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Yes

My favorite part of this series is the so real it hurts family interaction. I just... I suck at reviews sometimes. This is one of those times. But you should still read this because it is awesome. Okay.
