“It’s not the end,” I say with a mischievous, rising smile. “Let me guess”—Lo tilts his head at me—“it’s just the beginning?” “It’s actually the middle,” I banter. “Which is the best part. It’s neither the start nor the finish. It’s all the goodness in between.”

It was a DOOZY, but this may be my new favorite in the series. Ryke and Daisy have grown tremendously through these books, but to see it culminate in this particular novel made me feel alllll the feelings and absolutely stole my heart. I feel like in Hothouse Flower we got a taste of their connection, but Long Way Down solidified just how strong it was. Despite predicting much of what occurred throughout this book, it by no means took away from my enjoyment and the emotional impact. The struggles that were showcased throughout the book felt more realistic than much of what has occurred in the series thus far and that’s probably why I was so connected to it. Daisy is by far my favorite and most relatable of the Calloway sisters to me. And Ryke’s unwavering loyalty to the people he loves makes my heart burst. My one critique is that I think KBR’s writing style can be a little too overdone for my taste (ex: Ryke’s use of the f-word), and there were certain parts that I wanted more from and some that I found dragged on too long. I cannot believe there is only one book left until I have to say goodbye to the core six because of how real they have become to me…a movie.

This book was so emotional. I cried, I screamed and I laughed. The ending was just… amazing.
