Hardly a shadow of the first book in the series. the humour is strained and deliberate, the narration saggy and the whole thing just makes you painfully aware of how good the first book was.
What a disappointing sequel to The Rosie Project. As some other reviewers have pointed out, the plot is lacking (and what pushes it along is annoying at best) and I found what made the other book great seems to be gone from this one. I found that Don and Rosie's characters were reduced to their most annoying traits without including any redeeming ones and the decisions they both made seemed off and purely made to make the plot move a certain way as opposed to in a way that made sense for the characters. The end was rushed and cliched and I just feel it didn't do justice to the great first book.
Would not recommend if you liked the first one.

A great sequel that made me laugh out loud several times. Graeme Simsion has created an terrific character in Don Tillman. I did find it a bit draggy about midway through, and was exasperated (no doubt by design) with some of the characters. If you enjoyed The Rosie Project, the sequel will not disappoint!
At first I found this book less appealing than the first Don/Rosie novel, The Rosie Project. But I kept with it and the ending made it all worthwhile.
This was still a fun sequel, but it wasn't nearly as good as the Rosie Project. I think it's worth a read if you loved the first and want to watch even more hijinks take place.
Sure, it probably didn't need to be as long as it is, but The Rosie Effect is still a ripping read. I knew how it would turn out, but I was still compelled to turn page after page just to work out how Don came through in the end. A good read.
The Rosie Project was exciting to read, and so hilarious that it always kept a smile on your face from the first page to the last.
In comparison to the first one, The Rosie Effect is a whole different world. You will hardly find yourself laughing, or even having fun; rather you're constantly made to suffer from constant pangs of anguish. It's a book about love, friendship and about the struggles of human companionship. This book is harder to swallow, but infinitely better than the first. I loved this so much such that I feel hesitant to read the last book, due to fear of potential disappointment.

Book one was five stars.... I have to say I was a bit less happy with this one. The last 20% was fab, so I'd still give it a read if you liked book 1 but deffo didn't live up to the previous standard
My main gripe was that Rosie really pissed me off in this book. I know the miscommunication was a result of the extreme neuro-divergence going on, and rosie obviously has her own issues as well but I still found it tiresome as it went on for sooooo long. Maybe the book should have been a tad shorter?
Apart from this i still really enjoyed the hilarious antics of Don and the trouble he gets himself mixed up in. I won't rush to read book 3, but will deffo save it for a comforting pick me up later down the line - you can't help smiling at the end of these books.
