The Rosie Effect

The first book was silly, this one was just sad with some antics thrown in that didn’t much soften the overwhelming sadness. It showed more character development, perhaps, but was less enjoyable to read.

I listened to this book in audio because I really enjoyed my experience with The Rosie Project in audio. While I loved The Rosie Project, I only liked The Rosie Effect. I feel like the "gimmick" of Don was a bit too overplayed. The story got so complicated with many "Problems" and the heart of the issue with Rosie seemed to get lost. The ending was heartfelt and brought it back together, but there were so many times that I got bored or lost focus while listening to this that I never felt in The Rosie Project. There are still fun aspects and I didn't hate it. I just didn't love it.

Ah, what a disappointment. I really enjoyed the first book and was hopeful about this one, but the writing was so stilted. Everything was so OVERWORKED and onerous. Stick with the first book, enjoy it for what it is, and know you're not missing a thing skipping over this one.

As charming as the first book. The continuing adventures of the socially unadept professor.

I found this book as engaging, amusing, and diverting as the first one. Light, fluffy, but at times insightful and thought-provoking. A very fun book.

I received an advance copy of this book from net galley.

I loved The Rosie Project, but I did not love Rosie. I actually didn't really like her that much. This book made me like her even less. I had so many issues with her character and the way she behaved.

If you enjoyed Don and his quirks and the hilarious situations he found himself in, then you will enjoy this book. If you loved Rosie and the romance, then you might not like this one as much.

I really enjoyed The Rosie Project but really struggled to get into this sequel. It lacked a lot of the humor from the first book, as well as direction.

A captivating book with interesting characters and storyline. A good sequel, which was possibly even better than the first.
