Oh darn. This one wasn't as good as the last Rosie book. Is it because I've grown used to Sheldon Cooper's antics on BBT? Is it because the first book was just pitch-perfect and impossible to repeat? I don't know, but this one is a bit flatter than the first. Not quite as fresh. It's okay, but not great.
funny lighthearted sad medium-paced

I didn’t enjoy this as much as the first. I felt conflicted reading this. I felt sorry for Rosie not getting the support she wanted, but also felt unsympathetic to Rosie, as Don’s actions shouldn’t have been that surprising! I felt sorry for Don being put in uncomfortable scenarios, but loved the support circle he’d accumulated by the end of the book. I did still enjoy this read, and am still invested enough in Rosie and Don to read The Rosie Result.

I'm just going to pretend there never was a sequel to the quirky hilarious book that is The Rosie Project.

I loved The Rosie Project and couldn't wait to read the sequel! Without giving away anything from the first book - the second one is never as great as the first.

Such a fun book and series! Highly recommend

A fun and quick read, but didn't love it quite as much as The Rosie Project - not enough Rosie in it!

I was expecting to not enjoy this as much as the first book because 1) book 1 is hard to beat and 2) most of the reviews I read here express disappointment compared to book 1. But I really liked it.

It is heavier subject matter than book 1– this wasn't light and fluffy, can't put it down bliss – but I found Don and Rosie's struggles were believable and realistic given their personalities. There's still humor (not as much), plenty of oh no! Don moments (some downright uncomfortable), and new colorful characters, but there's also a depth here that isn't in the first one. I hope there are more to come!

First half was okay - The interaction between Don and Rosie was endearing. Second half culminated in a mess which made me skip through large passages as I was shaking my head at the hurried writing and the bad relationship advice that was seeping through the pages.

Pros: Easy to read narrative.
Cons: Making Rosie unlikable, too extreme situations for Don, giving Gabe a completely unrealistic redemption, and removing Claudia from the equation.

All in all, I was sadly bored. :(

I was less interested in this book than the first one and it wasn't quite as good, but I still liked it. I liked following Don's thought processes and for the most part I think they are very logical, but I wasn't as invested in this story and the central conflict wasn't as interesting to me.
