If you liked The Rosie Project, you'll like this sequel. It's a little predictable and some of the plot twists are stolen from sitcoms (Don tries to keep a problem from Rosie and finds the covering up of his lies is more stressful than he realized!! A miscommunication causes confusion!) Don's character is so likable and the story has a lot to like, too. A fun read.

I enjoyed this book, read it immediately after finishing the first one and in fact completed it in a single day. Obviously a quick and easy read, though I identified with the pregnancy related story as I have a nineteen-month-old. No, these are not great works of literature, but I enjoyed having something easy to read, and it was much better than some other chick lit that I've read.

Overall I enjoyed it - the quirkiness is still there. The ending seemed to come a bit fast and lost a little quirkiness...or I wasn't too sure what exactly was happening, but overall I liked it.

Not as good as the first book, but still enjoyable.

I enjoyed The Rosie Effect by Graeme Simsion. I didn't enjoy it as much as his first novel The Rosie Project, but still, it was an enjoyable read. I still enjoyed all the characters in the book, did feel at times the story was a bit forced to allow Don's inapt personality to shine through....I don't think there's enough to make a third novel in the series...(but, I could be wrong).

Zu lange, teilweise sehr absurd.
An den neuen Sprecher habe ich mich gewöhnen können, auch wenn viele seiner Personen sehr ähnlich klangen.

You know how you write a sequel to a book where a character overcame most of his personality issues by the end? You wipe the slate, and return the character to his initial settings. Yes! Great!

The Rosie Effect takes much of what was irritating about The Rosie Project and doubles down on it. Don makes a series of mistakes and chooses not to tell his wife about them, but it's okay - because she's not really talking to him, either! This is a book set over the period of nine months, with almost no communication between the lead couple. Books where characters don't tell each other things that would make the story run smoother are one of my key frustrations, and it's written all over it.

But hey - three quarters of a year living rent free in New York, with a houseguest who makes no attempts to move! Excellent!

(This is easy to read tripe, with very few redeeming features. What charm the original had is really lacking here.).

So this is a great follow up to the Rosie Project, although this one definitely has more serious topics. Instead of finding a relationship, professor Don Tillman is trying to hang on to one. His mishaps are as hilarious as in the first book but they definitely made me more nervous because of the potential consequences. It is a marvelous audiobook thanks to the narrator and a definite recommend. Fall in love all over again with Don and you will be just as smitten with his new best friends in NYC but be prepared to laugh out loud at inopportune times.

Loved this book! Funny, romantic, and heartwarming throughout. Sheds much-needed light on the Autism community and the power of embracing our authentic self instead of trying to fit in with everyone else.

I liked this one, too, although maybe not as much as the first.
