The Rosie Effect

I hate to do it but I have to give this book 1 star. It was such a disappointing follow-up to [b:The Rosie Project|16181775|The Rosie Project (Don Tillman, #1)|Graeme Simsion|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1371651741s/16181775.jpg|22084678], a novel I really enjoyed. Rosie's character is completely unlikeable and her actions really didn't feel true to character; I find it hard to believe that she would disregard everything about Don that makes him Don.

I didn't enjoy this one as much as the first in the series. There was definitely still some humour and some touching moments but I found myself frustrated with many of the situations. Rosie's pregnancy throws Don for a real loop and I found myself frustrated with Rosie for springing this on him (she stopped taking her pills without discussion). The Sonia-posing-as-Rosie parts were funny but I really just wanted a resolution (though Don was trying not to stress Rosie out). Overall, it was a good book, it just wasn't in the same level as the first in the series.

This book was stressful!

Yep, I’m into it. Go Don and Rosie!

This story is just so endearing and funny to me.
slow-paced

What a funny enjoyable book , gently mocking relationships & pregnancy preparation while being deeply empathetic to neuro-diversity.

Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: Yes
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

An enjoyable easy read, but very same same.

Meh. Nowhere near as good as the first one. Also, I must pass on the fact that the neurotic villain was a social worker.
