5 stars!!!

I knew this was going to be a 5 star read when I was only 20% of the way in. Kate Stewart always knows how to write a story that’s going to make you laugh and cry within the same chapter.

Whitney is going through it, passed up for her big promotion, her car is on its last leg and she just broke up with her casual boyfriend. Now she’s headed to spend Christmas with her family, but this year, her brother has brought a friend… the only man she’s ever loved, her ex from college that shattered her heart 17 years ago.

The family dynamic in this book was one of my favorite things about it, they were hilarious and truly loved each other. Whitney and Eli had sparks flying off the page from the moment they locked eyes, and I was LIVING for it.

Perfect Christmas read. I loved every second.

The Plight Before Christmas ~ Kate Stewart

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Romance ☑️
Family ☑️
Christmas ☑️
Spice ☑️

The Plight Before Christmas was a great holiday read. I loved Whitney and her family gathering for Christmas! She was relatable as was her whole family. I also liked the dynamic between Whitney and Eli and their story throughout.

Whitney does not have anything going right in her life, a breakup, broken toe, and getting passed on a promotion at work top the list. Her family decides to gather at her grandparents cabin to spend Christmas together. She’s hoping to find her Christmas spirit when she gets there and is surrounded by her family. But Eli, her ex from college, who broke her heart almost 20 years ago, shows up and throws a wrench into all of her plans for the holiday.

This was a lighthearted read with relatable family drama, romantic spice, and lots of Christmas festivities. I really enjoyed the dual POV between Whitney and Eli and also the flashbacks to when they were dating in college. Overall I really enjoyed The Plight Before Christmas! It would be a great last minute Christmas read!

I have never read a Christmas book in my life but this book made me wish I had started reading holiday books earlier. After reading a lot of war and fantasy heavy books lately I really need a light hearted and happy and this book delivered. It was filled with amazing witty banter, family, second chance romance, a little bit of spice and a happily ever after!!! Kate Stewart never disappoints!!!

A solid 4.5⭐️ for me!

17 years after dating for 8 months in college seemed a bit crazy, but by the end of the book, it just worked! Whitney and her family were hilarious, and Eli fit in perfectly. I was rooting for them, as well as Whitney’s siblings who were going through things of their own.

A bit too much miscommunication, otherwise it would probably be 5 stars.

This story was everything!

Not only were Eli and Whitney amazing to read, but every single side character was so well developed! I cried over Thatch and Serena, and fell in love with Ruby. Brenden reminded me so much of my own brothers, and Allen was such a “dad”. While the story may centre around Christmas, it is so much more than a typical holiday romance. Lighthearted hilarious at times, and deeply emotional and heart wrenching at others, this story was so amazing!

Eli & Whitney | Second Chance Romance | M/F | 3 Chillis | Standalone

Hmmm this book felt quite solemn, I'm not sure why ( I think it was long & slow) but I just wanted some more fluff and giddiness.

Jealousy scene was amazing though!
