Ahhhh, yes. One of the series that got me into reading fantasy as a kid!

1.5 stars

Atwater-Rhodes was 13 when she wrote this book and boy can you really really tell. It reads like bad vampire fan fiction. The writing is eye-rollingly pretentious in that very special way that only "deep" young teens can be. I don't mean to shit all over a kid, obviously it's very impressive that someone so young wrote something someone deemed worthy of publishing, but damn this book is bad. It isn't so terrible that it physically hurt me, but I absolutely will not be spending money on the many sequels it has spawned. It's a bummer too, because this was a favorite of mine when I was a kid. Ah well, not all childhood favorites live up to your memories of them.

As much as I love the book, I can never quite get over the present-tense narration. It's a bit jarring, and pulls me out of a story that I otherwise love.

i really liked this book, its daring.

This book made me fall head over heels for the author. I loved the characters and plot and the uniqueness of it all. I have read a lot of vampire books, I mean I am like a vampire enthusiast. This book made me see them differently though which is always something I crave. It is wonderfully written and I have recomended it to tons of my friends.

This is Amelia Atwater-Rhodes first book and the last of this series that I have read. It's amazing that at the age of 13 she was able to craft such a story that was very simple yet interesting enough to keep you reading.

This is a very middle of the road book. Nothing particularlly good, while at the same time nothing great. The story is a classic YA vampire romance, with daul characters that have no depth to them. The one plus is there no romance in the story. That does not remove the fact that it a short book and every part of the story is rushed and means you don't connect to characters or feel anything for them. Overall not a great book, but a quick read.

This was my first UF novel in like, tenth grade.

I do love this book, I just really REALLY wish it was longer,it has so much potential :-)
